Rhetorical Analysis Body Paragraph (2/3) AP Lang 2017

After making such acknowledgements, Ms. Luce then moves on to her direct attack on journalism’s corruption to warn her audience against it. She elicits her criticism by using a rhetorical question: “For what is good journalism all about?” She then builds up her criticism with the repetition of the phrase “It is” to discuss how journalism is about explaining political events like a summit to STEM like how the moon’s visible size changes when viewers’ perspectives change, and the U.S. journalists failed to do so. She then calls the ultimate failture that the journalists could have as “failure to tell the truth.” These criticisms effectively reveal what American Journalism looked like in Ms. Luce’s time, making her audience aware of the severity of their mistakes to digress from true good journalism, therefore be wolling to stand up and change their unpleasant status quo.
